Ms Blake has over 8 years of experience working in the field of strategic conflict management and cross-cultural engagement.  During this time Sarah has worked in government, community and commercial sectors – all of which contributed to a thorough understanding of the complexities associated with strategic decision making. In particular Sarah has developed a unique ability to bridge the communication divides between cultures. Her analytical approach to all layers of communication allows her to work with you in developing strategic solutions to your engagement, negotiation and conflict management requirements.

Sarah is particularly committed to working to support sustainable solutions within communities experiencing conflict. With experience in conflict management, mediation and negotiation in remote Aboriginal communities, she understands the complexities of operating within diverse cultural environments and looks to build upon the capacities already within communities. Sarah also continues to provide volunteer support to community organisations promoting cross-cultural conflict management in a manner that is mutually respectful and sustainable.

Mediation Practice

Sarah Blake has been working in the field of conflict management for over 8 years with the last three years spent as a full time mediator working particularly with remote Aboriginal communities. Her roles have included community education and development and complex multiparty and community mediations. She has mediated many issues including Associations and Community Groups, Community Consultation, Business, Workplace relations, Institutional, Neighbourhood, Property, Sport & Recreation, Victim Offender, Prison Conferencing, Personal Violence Restraining Orders and Youth issues (circle sentencing & restorative justice approaches). Her work within remote Aboriginal communities (mainly in the top end of NT) has included Court Referred cases, burial issues, workplace and community/government relations and community conflict. Sarah also provides mediator supervision & training services and is experienced in process design – particularly for the cross-cultural context.

  • Bachelor of Arts – (Anthropology, Politics and South East Asia Studies), 2001, Northern Territory University (now Charles Darwin University)
  • Cross-Cultural Mediator: Accredited LEADR and National Mediation Standards (2009/10)
  • Senior CJC Mediator – Supervisor & Cross-cultural Mediator
